David Hume (Antony Flew, ed.): An Enquiry concerning Human Understanding (Open Court 1988) This blatant example of editorial overkill reminds me why I hated textbooks. At his most obtrusive Flew inserts Hume’s footnotes into the text making Hume sound like a dithering idiot.
